I'm Jules and I've been a designer and design team leader for over 20 years. I've worked across a variety of industries from education, government to media. I'm currently the Head of Product Design for hipages which is a two-sided marketplace helping homeowners and tradies connect to get jobs done.
I'm a inclusive design leader, with a passion for cultivating design professionals and helping them achieve their career goals. I work hard to be an effective coach and mentor and have had measurable success in my career helping lots of design professionals progress their careers, gain confidence and improve their practice.
I've built and led a number of teams here in Sydney both in agencies and client side. Each team had its challenges and its successes and I learnt so much from the brilliant designers in each of them. Looking back, I've been incredibly lucky to work with some truly inspiring designers throughout my career. I'm big on culture and team camaraderie so strive to make team members feel safe, respected and valued. I love to mentor and coach designers and recently I've also been coaching some product managers here at hipages and in other organisations.
I'm passionate about product, product design and product development and am slightly obsessed with experimentation.
I have three wonderful boys, an amazing wife plus a crazy dog called Poppy. My weekends are filled with sports, DIY, trips to museums, bush walks, gardening and jogging.
Other than design my passion is for all things mechanical especially if they're super loud or go fast. Since coming to Australia I've discovered Australian Super Cars which I watch with my boys along with Formula 1. We try and go to as many races as we can and of course, the old pilgrimage to Bathurst.
